health is wealth: enugu rep Deputy Minority leader, okechukwu gives his constituents a touch of love through free YEArly health services

Nigerians are fond of this saying that ‘a healthy nation is a wealthy nation’, but as we all know, Africans are the most hypocritical people in the world, and even with the way we sing it, we still find it difficult to go for monthly checkups and will rather buy over the counter drugs from half baked pharmacists than go to the hospital to carry out a proper test and get proper prescription.

But if there is one African that is different and does not just take the saying to heart, but tries to make sure that his people live it and be truly wealthy in health, then it will be Hon. Toby Okechukwu, the deputy minority leader and member representing Awgu, Aninri and Oji-River federal constituency.

As a popular man of God will always say, when one goes to meet their God, no one will talk about how wealthy they were or how many material things they acquired, what they will discuss is the lives they touched while still on earth, but its safe to say that even when Hon. Okechukwu is still on earth people testify daily about what he has done in the health sector for his people.

Hon. Toby okechukwu has touched more lives and has opened the mouth of people in prayers for him through his several medical outreach in his Awgu, Oji-river and Aninri.

The annual medical outreach which holds in his counstituency every year has done nothing but bring ‘miracle’ to the lives of people who didn’t have the financial capabilities to treat themselves or have lost hope in ever getting medical help.

The program which is always scheduled as a 3 to 4 days activity caters to the whims of over 2000 people on a daily basis. The last medical outreach which was conducted at UNTH Outpost Ugbo in Awgu Local Government Area was indeed a massive one as it saw people who didn’t want to go home after the event but wanted to wait and thank the lawmaker personally for his help to them.

The medical outreach which has been observed for 7 years includes operations, giving of free medications and treatment of bad eye sights and free medical checkup for those treated after the outreach was indeed mind blowing and a thing to set as an exemplary standard for other leaders.

It will be worthy to recall an event in December during one of the lawmakers generous events where a woman who also got a bag of rice and other goodies came out to testify that that through his medical outreach and operation was done on her eye and she was able to regain her eye sight. Testimonies like this are what makes people remain loyal and sing his praise.

With things like this, if there is a political office he wants to run, he wouldn’t have to spend much on campaign and PR because, he has raised an army for himself already. When people sing his praise and call him ‘IHE ERIOBA’, we know of a truth, he earned his name.
