The Former Deputy president of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, had on Monday, taken to another round of inspectional tour on most the sites of the Developmental Infrastructures in Udi North of Enugu West Senatorial District, which he represents in the Senate.
He carried out this Voluntary oversight Function in the company of the Deputy Minority leader, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, as well as, the member representing Udi and Ezeagu federal Constituency in the house of Representatives, Hon. Amadi Dennis Oguerinwa and other Dignitaries.
This is in continuation of inspection/commissioning of ongoing, yet to be completed as well as the completed 2017 – 2019 projects in Enugu West Senatorial District.
At Udi North, several developmental infrastuctures where inspected, they include the 9th Mile – Nsukka – Orokam Express Road Project, 9th Mike-Nsukka Old Road Project, Affa-Umuoke-Umulumgbe Road, reconstruction of 9th Mile – 82 Division Enugu end of the Enugu-Onitsha Road with an interchange at 9th Mile, in addition to other 25 projects comprising erosion control/rural roads, electricity projects, Primary Health Centres, school blocks, etc.
UGAMATV gathered that Work on the road projects, which were impeded by the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the raining season, are expected to pick up at great speed immediately after the rains, as the contractors are already back to Nigeria after the Lockdown due to the pandemic.
Amid the tour, a stop over was made at the massive and quite commendable 2000-hectre Lion Business Pack, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative of the Enugu State Government and Chinese investors within the Enugu Free Trade Zone at 9th Mile Corner.
In his speech towards the end of the Tour, Ekweremadu reiterated that this tour was too closely monitor the stages of all the Developmental feats within Enugu West Senatorial District, to ascertain the competence and diligence of the contractors towards the construction of all the projects, also, to decipher the unpleasant circumstances that might be dettering the timely construction of these projects.
Also, to possibly create room for the yet to be completed and ongoing projects, in the Finding of the next National Budget of 2021.
He also stated that this is encourage, lead by example and teach every young politician, the right way to attract and monitor development of the jurisdiction, while having the welfare of the inhabitants and indigenes at heart.
