Couple m8rdered in their retirement home in Uganda after spending over 30 years in Switzerland

A couple who had just retired home to Uganda after over 30 years in Zurich, Switzerland were m8rdered at their retirement home in Entebbe, Uganda.

David Mutaaga,69, and his wife Deborah Mutaaga-Nabeeta,62, were found in pools of blood at their residence in Lugongo, Nakiwogo Cell, Kiwafu Ward, Division ‘A’, Entebbe Municipality on Sunday night, July 6, 2025.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango, officers from Entebbe Police Station responded to an emergency call and found the lifeless bodies of the couple, both bearing multiple stab wounds.

“The victims were found inside their home with deep stab wounds. Initial assessments suggest the attackers may have used sharp objects and possibly gained access with the intent to rob,” SSP Onyango said in a statement issued Monday.

David’s body was found at the gate area while Deborah’s body was in the bathroom.

There seems to have been a scuffle between David and the m8rderer from inside the house up to the gate where his body was found.

It is said that his wife reached out to some people by phone regarding the attack while she was still alive after sustaining wounds and informed them about the ongoing attack.

Her body was also found lifeless in the bedroom due injuries caused by the stabbing.

There is no indication of forced entry at the crime scene. The home has a perimeter wall and the security cameras) which were not tampered with at all. The gate is remote controlled. All doors were intact implying that the killer had a smooth access to the premises using keys or was already inside the house.

The victims had hosted a couple of guests during the day and they reportedly had two casual laborers to help them prepare for the guests during the day who had also left for their homes in the evening.

Police recorded statements from multiple witnesses at the scene, including the informant Ronald Golooba, close family acquaintances, the housemaid, Daphine Naudo, who is said to have discovered the bodies and several neighbours who reported unusual movements and noises during the night.

Crime scene investigators processed the house and collected evidence for forensic analysis, including fingerprints, blood samples, and household items that may have been used or tampered with during the attack.

The bodies were transferred to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause and timing of d8ath.

Investigators are now piecing together the couple’s last known movements, reviewing neighborhood CCTV footage, and interviewing more residents for leads on potential suspects.

While no arrests have been made, SSP Onyango confirmed that police are pursuing “all available leads” and urged anyone with information to come forward.
