Buhari doesn’t rig elections, APC can’t win Anambra – APGA

The NationaL Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Oye, has said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will not interfere in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.

He urged members of the All Progressives Congress relying on the federal might to rethink their strategy because the president would not accede to any request to support the rigging of elections to favour the party.

The APGA national chairman berated the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, over his comments that the APC would take over Anambra State in the November 6 poll “by all means.”

Oye said, “People are just painting the President in a very bad light and I’m not happy about that. President Buhari is not that kind of leader; he doesn’t influence elections.

“If it’s Buhari that I know very well, he won’t support anything that will cause chaos or crisis in this state. Buhari is an honourable man, he loves progress.

“President Buhari doesn’t interfere in any elections, if he does, he would have interfered in that of Edo, but he didn’t. Hope Uzodimma and his team went to Edo; nobody knew when they left Benin.

“When they saw the result trickling in, they disappeared before morning. The same thing will happen here. We have the capacity to protect our votes.”

Oye equally noted that the Anambra State Governor, Willy Obiano, would anoint a successor to take over from him.

Oye said this in an interview with journalists in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, on Wednesday.

He noted that the governor had done so well and deserved to be given the right to pick a successor to continue from where he would stop in November.
