A prominent figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has cautioned the Federal Government under the All Progressives Congress (APC) against taking Nigerians for granted.
Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television on Thursday, Galadima reacted to the country’s current political climate and the controversy surrounding the recently signed Electoral Act.
He stressed that the government must not assume that citizens are naïve or incapable of responding to unfavourable developments.
“They shouldn’t presume that Nigerians are gullible and cannot react,” he stated.
Drawing a parallel with the 2015 general elections, Galadima noted that the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan was voted out at a time when, in his view, the security challenges in the North-East were significantly less severe than they are today.
According to him, Nigerians have previously shown their ability to demand change through the ballot box and could repeat such action if circumstances warrant it.
“They should remember that when the situation was far less severe than what we are experiencing in 2025, Nigerians rose to the occasion and removed that government,” he added.
