Saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Alexander, known to many as “the man in the iron lung” or “Polio Paul” 💔.
At just six years old, Paul was struck by polio in 1952, which left him paralyzed from the neck down.
His only movements were limited to his head, neck, and mouth. Facing a grim prognosis, Paul’s life was saved by an iron lung a mechanical respirator that kept him breathing and alive for an incredible 70 years.
Paul’s story is a powerful testament to resilience, hope, and the advances in medical technology. His courage and spirit will continue to inspire us all.
