Gunmen suspected to be bandits have launched yet another attack in Niger State, abducting several young mothers and leaving behind their sick babies in Usubu community.
The late-night assault, which occurred on Saturday, was revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by security analyst Bakatsine on Sunday.
According to the report, the assailants stormed the community and forcefully whisked away women, many of them nursing mothers, while abandoning their infants, some reportedly less than a year old.
“Yesterday night, gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Usubu community in Niger State, abducted young mothers and left behind their sick babies under 1yr old. When will this horror end in Nigeria?” Bakatsine wrote.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the police nor other security agencies had released an official statement on the incident.
The development has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians lamenting the unrelenting wave of kidnappings across the country, particularly in the North-Central region.
