“A Life of Service Remembered” – Enugu mourns as preparations begin for the burial of Chief Okpo, fondly remembered as Ogbuzuru I.

Late Chief Peter E. Okpo (Ogbuzuru I) Passes On at 90: Burial Scheduled for January 3, 2026

 

Enugu State, Nigeria — The family of Late Chief Peter E. Okpo (Ogbuzuru I) of Nkwubo, Ubahu Community, Nkanu East Local Government Area, has announced with deep sorrow, yet profound gratitude to God, the passing of their patriarch, who died peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 90.

 

The revered community leader, elder statesman, and father to Hon. Ndubuisi Agbo (widely known as The Global), will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Ubahu Community Primary School, Nkanu East LGA.

 

In a formal notification addressed to family, relatives, friends, and the wider public, Hon. Agbo extended a heartfelt invitation to members of The Best Western Parliament and the general public to join in honoring the life and legacy of his late father.

 

“It is with every sense of humility and respect—though on a sad note—that I announce the glorious transition of my beloved father, Chief Peter E. Okpo, who lived a full and impactful life. We invite all who knew him to come pay their final respects,” said Hon. Agbo in his official statement.

 

The late Chief Okpo, popularly known by his chieftaincy title Ogbuzuru I, was highly respected across the region for his wisdom, community leadership, and commitment to the welfare of others.

 

The family appreciates all expressions of love and support during this period of mourning and encourages well-wishers to join in celebrating a life well lived.
