
The former deputy senate president and senator representing Enugu west Senatorial district in enugu State, Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremmadu and other members of the House of Representatives in the zone, has pledged their loyalty to the people of Enugu west and restated their commitment towards the actualization of peace and unity in the state.
Stating that the Security Challenges in the country is already enormous and Enugu State cannot afford to engage in further acts of violence since the security apparatus of the state is already over stretched.
The Federal lawmakers made this pledge while receiving Enugu west Senatorial Zone Stakeholders who have come to present a Communiqué reached at the end of their Zonal meeting to review the recent developments in the state as it affects the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and issues concerning zoning.

Senator Ekweremmadu on behalf of the Leaders of the zone thanked the Stakeholders of Enugu West for their maturity and proper articulation of their demands and assured them that they will represent their requests to the appropriate quarters for consideration. According to him ‘Your wish is our command. We are your representatives; whatever you ask us to do is what we will do. It is you right. You elected us to represent you and we will do what you ask us to do. What you are requesting is for equity, fairness and justice. We align ourselves with your demands and be rest assured that we will not disappoint you.”
The senator, commended Governor Sullivan Chime who demonstrated serious commitment toward ensuring peace in Enugu State and the incumbent Governor Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who not only sustained the peace in Enugu but moved on to place Enugu State in the hands of God.
He further went ahead to appealed to those threatening to kill and maim to shield their swords adding that Enugu people are very peaceful people and can always sort out their differences. According to him,” we don’t kill in Enugu West; we dialogue. So, I urge you to remain peaceful always’ he urging them
Also speaking the Deputy Minority Leader in the House of Representatives Federal Republic Nigeria and member representing Aniniri/Awgu/ Oji River Federal Constituency, Hon.Toby Okechukwu, commended the Stakeholders for following due process in the pursuit of their demands.
Okechukwu in the same line with Senator Ike Ekweremadu reasured the Stakeholders that their interest is very paramount to them stating that “what is good for the guess is equally good for the gander promising that their request will be treated with utmost seriousness adding that as representatives ‘ we have no choice than to present and defend the views of the stakeholders otherwise our job will be on line.” He said
Also in same spirit, the member representing Ezeagu/ Udi Federal Constituency, Hon. Ogueri Amadi commended the stakeholders for rising up to the challenges of the people of Enugu West Senatorial Zone.
urging them to continue to stand by the truth no matter how bitter it may be adding that only the truth can set Enugu State free.
Hon. Amadi aligned himself totally to the submissions of the Stakeholders and assured them that “ as your representatives, we will carry your demands to the appropriate quarters and firmly defend it” he stated.
The Stakeholders haven presented a Nine Point communiqué reached at the end of its meeting to the leaders of the zone, which included the demand to be allowed to produce the Governor of Enugu State in 2023.
They maintained that Enugu East Senatorial Zone have produce three governors in the Lion Building , Enugu North have produced 0ne plus the incumbent while Enugu West have produced only One governor in the Lion Building , stating that the people of Enugu West insisted that allowing them to produce the next governor will give them a sense of belonging.
The Stakeholders therefore appealed to the other zones to support Enugu West in 2023 adding that the zone will bring forth credible candidates that will see the entire Enugu State as his constituency.
In attendance are the State Secretary of the Party, Chief C C Akalusi, the State Vice Chairman, Chief Okey Ozoani, former National Assembly members, Local government Chairmen, Members of State House of Assembly, former commissioners and highly placed men and women from the zone.
