Wife Arrested for Stabbing Co-Wife to Death in Daura Town

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old housewife, Rabi’a Labaran, for the alleged murder of her co-wife, Zainab Lawal, 30, following a violent domestic altercation in Daura town.

The tragic incident occurred late on May 24, 2025, behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area of Daura. According to the police, a heated dispute between the two women escalated into a fatal confrontation. Their husband, Nasir Yusuf, returned home from the market at about 11:00 p.m. to find Zainab’s lifeless body bearing multiple stab wounds.

The police were immediately alerted, and a team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) rushed to the scene. The victim was transported to the Federal Medical Centre, Daura, where she was confirmed dead.

During the investigation, Rabi’a Labaran reportedly confessed to the killing, claiming that a misunderstanding between her and Zainab turned physical, culminating in the fatal stabbing.

Confirming the arrest, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, condemned the act and urged members of the public to shun domestic violence and avoid taking the law into their own hands.

“Disputes should be resolved through lawful channels. Taking the law into one’s hands only deepens the crisis and erodes the rule of law,” he said.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that justice is served in the case, noting that investigations are ongoing and the suspect remains in custody pending further legal action.
