VILLA TOSCANA HOTELS MOURNS THE LOSS OF ITS DEAR AMBASSADOR MR IBU

On March 2, 2024, the Management of Villa Toscana Hotels mourned the loss of one of its ambassadors John Ikechukwu Okafor, famously known as Mr Ibu.

Mr Ibu, embodied multifaceted roles within Nigeria’s entertainment sphere, excelling as an actor, producer, writer, and comedian. Hailing from Enugu State, he was born on October 17, 1961, establishing a legacy that would resonate throughout the Nigerian film industry. Sadly, his journey was cut shot on March 2, 2024, marking his passing at the age of 62, leaving behind a profound impact on the nation’s cultural landscape.

Before his death, Mr. Ibu celebrated his 60th birthday with friends and family, at Villa Toscana on Sunday November 15, 2020.

In the latter stage of his life, the actor and father of 13 children, faced serious health challenges that eventually led to his death. In October 2023, he revealed his struggle with diabetes. A month later, his leg was amputated after enduring seven surgeries. Despite undergoing several surgeries and treatments, his health continued to deteriorate.

His family took to social media to solicit funds to clear his medical bills. This was responded to by The CEO Villa Toscana Hotels and several other Nigerian organizations, who contributed different sums of money for his treatment.

 Mr Ibu was confirmed dead on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at a hospital in Lagos. He was said to have suffered a cardiac arrest,

On the day of his burial, June 28, 2024, Mr Ibu’s body was taken to Toscana hotels to pay the last homage.

In a heartfelt tribute, the CEO Villa Toscana Hotels bead farewell to the deceased actor, with prayers that he may have eternal rest.

Indeed, Mr Ibu’s legacy transcends the confines of time, as one of the ambassadors of Villa Toscana hotels, his contributions to entertainment in the hotel can not be forgotten, He is one of the earliest pioneers of the Ogene Culture performed every weekend at Toscana, which is why the CEO Viller Toscana Hotels Chief Francis Obasi has continued to honor him even in death.
