Villa Toscana Foundation: Igniting Dreams, Transforming Lives Through Education and Empowerment in Southeast Nigeria

In a powerful demonstration of grassroots philanthropy and human-centered development, the Villa Toscana Foundation—a non-governmental organization founded by High Chief Francis Obasi, CEO of Villa Toscana Hotels—has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to transforming lives across Southeast Nigeria.

On July 8, 2025, the Foundation’s Programme Manager, Dr. Nnamdi Boniface Uche, led a high-level team from UGAMA TV to the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), where they engaged directly with scholarship recipients currently benefiting from the Foundation’s educational support initiatives.

The Foundation, renowned for its broad interventions in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and empowerment, is currently sponsoring 36 students in institutions across the South East and South South, including ESUT, UNN, IMT, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and Delta State University.

“Our mission is simple yet profound—to give hope to the underprivileged and ensure that no dream is lost due to poverty, ethnicity, or religion,” said Dr. Uche during the ESUT engagement.

The initiative, which blends tuition support with mentorship and skills training, is a cornerstone of the foundation’s drive to build a generation of empowered and self-reliant youth. Plans are underway to scale the program to 100 students by the 2025/2026 academic year.

Among the beneficiaries at ESUT are:

• Ikechukwu Moses Nwafor – Civil Engineering

• Anude Chiamaka Christabel – Nursing Sciences

• Ozor Kingsley Chigozie – Nursing Sciences

• Akachukwu Precious Chisom – 300-Level, Economics

• Okore Juliet Chioma – 200-Level, Library and Information Science

• Okeke Jane Francis Chidera – 200-Level, Food Science and Technology

• Okorji Bethel Ugochi – 300-Level, Education Management

• Uchechukwu Treasure Obiageli – 200-Level, English and Literary Studies

In tearful interviews with UGAMA TV, the students expressed heartfelt gratitude to High Chief Francis Obasi for what many described as a “lifeline.” Several students appealed for further assistance, particularly with the purchase of textbooks and essential learning materials.

Dr. Uche highlighted the Foundation’s multi-sectoral approach to development, citing a recent intervention at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) on January 21, 2025, where the Foundation offset hospital bills for struggling patients and provided transportation assistance—bringing immediate relief to dozens of families.

In the agricultural sector, Villa Toscana Foundation has launched sustainable farming initiatives aimed at boosting local food security in Enugu State. Meanwhile, infrastructure projects, such as rural road construction, bridges, and housing for the less privileged, are ongoing across select communities.

“We’re not just funding education—we’re building futures, reviving hope, and transforming entire communities,” Dr. Uche added.

As Villa Toscana Foundation scales its impact, it stands as a beacon of what private-led philanthropy can achieve in nation-building. Its strategic, inclusive, and humane interventions continue to create ripples of positive change across Southeast Nigeria, empowering today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders.

UGAMA TV will continue to track the progress of the Villa Toscana Foundation and its beneficiaries as this inspiring journey unfolds.
