Uzodimma Urges City Boy Movement to Lead Youth-Driven New Nigeria

Rewritten Story:

Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on members of the City Boy Movement (CBM) to promote a new Nigeria anchored on youth involvement, unity and national development.

Uzodimma made the appeal on Friday while receiving Seyi Tinubu and other members of the movement during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Owerri, ahead of the group’s official launch in Imo State.

The governor praised the movement for its humanitarian efforts and its role in mobilising young Nigerians. He encouraged members to direct their energy towards meaningful engagement and initiatives that will contribute to nation-building.

“I am here to support and encourage you. Remain united and use your strength to promote the message that a new Nigeria has emerged,” Uzodimma said.

He noted that although the country is facing global economic challenges, it is gradually recovering, stressing that young people must play a crucial role in sustaining peace and driving development.

Uzodimma also pointed to improvements in security and infrastructure within the South-East, while emphasising the need to nurture a new generation of leaders. According to him, Nigeria’s youthful population is a major asset that can accelerate national progress if properly mobilised.

The governor described the City Boy Movement as a platform promoting fresh ideas and urged members to conduct themselves responsibly while contributing positively to the nation’s future. He also assured them of the support of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, which he chairs, in spreading the message of the reforms and policies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu across communities nationwide.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ayodele Olawande commended Uzodimma for his commitment to youth development and empowerment. He thanked the governor for supporting initiatives that bring young people together and provide them with opportunities.

Olawande urged the governor to continue prioritising youth-focused programmes, adding that the movement appreciates his leadership and dedication to young Nigerians over the past six years.

Several top government officials and political stakeholders attended the meeting, including the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Chinyere Ekomaru; senators Osita Izunaso and Ezenwa Onyewuchi; Secretary to the State Government Cosmos Iwu; and Chief of Staff Nnamdi Anyaehie, among others.

Members of the visiting delegation included the South-East Director of the City Boy Movement Obinna Iyiegbu, Managing Director of the South East Development Commission Mark Okoye, Managing Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company Jennifer Adighije, and Imo State Coordinator of the movement Pascal Okechukwu.

Before the visit to the Government House, members of the City Boy Movement also visited the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, where they donated medical equipment.

The movement is expected to empower several young men and women from the South-East on Saturday as part of activities marking the conclusion of its launch tour in Owerri.
