U.S. President Donald Trump today met separately with the leaders of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda in Washington as part of a renewed diplomatic effort to end the long-running conflict in eastern Congo. The region has been plagued by armed rebel groups, resulting in thousands of displaced families and ongoing instability.
The White House said the meetings focused on cross-border tensions, rebel activities linked to the M23 group, and the need for humanitarian support in affected provinces. Analysts believe this is one of the most significant peace initiatives involving both countries in recent years.
