Super Eagles Strike: Players Boycott Training Over Two Years of Unpaid Bonuses

The Super Eagles on Tuesday refused to train in protest over unpaid bonuses spanning two years.

According to reports, the players informed head coach Eric Chelle that they would not train unless the outstanding bonuses were settled. The unpaid allowances reportedly cover both the qualifying campaigns for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The team had held their first training session in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday ahead of the 2026 World Cup playoffs. They were scheduled to have their second session later in the evening.

A total of 23 players are currently in camp at the team’s Rive Hotel base in Rabat.
