The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State has officially produced business executive and single-term governance advocate, Ocho Obodoeze, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Obodoeze emerged through a consensus arrangement during the party’s governorship primary election held on Friday at Universal Hotel, Enugu, in what party leaders described as a peaceful and credible exercise.
The primary election was conducted by the Enugu State Governorship Primary Election Committee under the leadership of Nze Law T. Biadu.
In his acceptance speech, Obodoeze expressed gratitude to members of the African Democratic Congress in Enugu State for unanimously endorsing him as the party’s flag bearer ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
He pledged not to disappoint the confidence reposed in him, assuring party faithful of his commitment to leading the ADC to victory in Enugu State and contributing to the party’s broader national aspirations.
The ADC candidate vowed to offer what he described as a more people-oriented administration than the current government led by Peter Mbah if elected governor in 2027.
Presenting key elements of his “Ochoudo 2027” agenda, Obodoeze promised to tackle excessive taxation, improve security, empower youths, and create an enabling environment for businesses and investments to thrive.
According to him, security remains the cornerstone of his development blueprint, stressing that sustainable economic growth and social progress can only flourish in a peaceful environment.
“Our government will end the era of high taxation in Enugu State to ease the suffering of the people and support small and medium enterprises, which are critical drivers of economic growth,” he stated.
Obodoeze further outlined plans for intelligence-driven community policing, strategic collaboration with traditional rulers and youth groups, installation of CCTV surveillance systems in major locations, deployment of solar-powered street lights across communities, and establishment of an effective rapid response security framework.
The governorship hopeful also promised to address unemployment through the creation of agro-industrial hubs, technology innovation centers, and sports academies aimed at productively engaging the youth population.
In addition, he disclosed plans to establish special government desks dedicated to supporting victims of crime and ensuring speedy justice delivery.
The press release announcing the outcome of the primary election was signed by Comrade A. C. Ude, Secretary of the ADC in Enugu State.
