The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and imposed a 30-year ban on him for allegedly forging party membership documents and misrepresenting his status within the party.

 

UGAMA TV, reports that the expulsion was officially announced on Monday by the SDP’s National Working Committee (NWC), which cited violations of the party’s constitution, principles, and Nigeria’s electoral laws.

 

In a statement released by National Publicity Secretary Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the SDP accused El-Rufai of forging his membership registration, falsely claiming to be member “001” of the Unguwar Sarki Ward in Kaduna North LGA, despite no official record supporting his membership.

 

The statement read:

 

“Upon thorough inquiry, it turned out that the Kaduna SDP was right — El-Rufai had not joined the SDP. Rather than register lawfully with the Ward Executives, he forged his own documents and self-registered as ‘number 001’ in the ward register.”

 

 

 

Aiyenigba further alleged that El-Rufai engaged in illegitimate political trading using the party’s name, an act the SDP says undermines its integrity and structure.

 

It’s worth noting that El-Rufai has been linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a newly promoted party platform.
