Rachel Oniga: A legend is gone, fans mourn

Fans have taken to social media to mourn the demise of veteran Nollywood actress, Rachel Oniga.

Her son, Olatunji, confirmed the death of the actress , saying his mother died on Friday night around 10pm.

“She passed last night around 10pm. She had malaria and typhoid,” Olatunji said

A popular screen queen, Oniga featured in scores of Nollywood movies —both English and Yoruba— before her demise.

Fans took to Twitter to mourn her demise and remember her movies.

A fan, @odogwu_nomso, tweeted, “Rest in peace Rachel Oniga, you are a Legend and you will not be forgotten in a hurry. Rest easy in the home beyond.”

@itprivacypaulo said, “Rachel Oniga, you’ll forever be remembered. I can’t forget the days you made me laugh in ‘Super Story’. Rest on legend.”

“Rest on Rachel Oniga. You are indeed an icon and a legend,” @iamkvngdavid_ tweeted.

Describing the deceased as a wonderful actress, @waleolan tweeted, “Rachel Oniga was a legend. She has always been a wonderful actress in every role she acted. I pray she continues to rest in peace and may God grant her family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

@thelilyking said, “I can’t believe Rachel Oniga is gone. It feels close to home. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.”
