PDP zoning committee submits report to NWC

The Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led Peoples Democratic Party Zoning Committee has submitted its report to the party’s National Working Committee, UGAMATV has learnt.

It was gathered that the report was submitted by the Secretary of the Committee who is also the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, in Abuja, on Monday.

A source privy to the short ceremony held at the Legacy House, said, “Gusau and other members of the committee who was received by the Acting National Chairman, Yemi Akinwonmi, explained that the committee’s recommendation was a product of wide consultations with party members across board.

“He explained that members also took into consideration the fact that the party was determined to win the 2023 general elections and that the mandate given to the committee was to zone party offices and not the Presidency.

“The party in his response, our acting National Chairman, Yemi Akinwonmi said, ‘Nigerians are waiting for the outcome of this report’ because it has the potential of making or marring this party, he also said all sections of the Nigerian society were represented in the committee.

“He also promised on behalf of the NWC to present the report to the National Executive Committee for further action.”

The PDP NEC has scheduled an emergency meeting for Thursday where it is expected to ratify the committee report. It also has powers to make amendments.

UGAMATV reported that the committee had in its report recommended that all party positions currently held by northerners should be swapped with those being held by southerners.

If the recommendation is upheld, the next national chairman of the party will be chosen from among northerners while the position of National Secretary currently held by a northerner will go south.
