Jubilation has greeted the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE), following the approval of eleven (11) new full-time undergraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), marking a significant milestone in the institution’s rapid academic growth.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated January 21, 2026, signed by the Director of Academic Planning of the Commission, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC. The letter was addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of FUAHSE, Professor John Emaimo.
According to the NUC, the approval followed a successful resource assessment visit conducted by a panel of experts to evaluate the availability of the requisite human and material resources for the proposed programmes. The assessment confirmed the university’s preparedness to effectively run the programmes at full-time mode.
With effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, the newly approved programmes will be offered at the university’s main campus in Enugu. The programmes are:
- B.Sc. Biotechnology
- B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence
- B.Sc. Software Engineering
- B.Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering
- B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering
- B.Sc. Alternative and Complementary Medicine
- B.Sc. Parasitology and Entomology
- B.Sc. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
- B.Sc. Community Health
- B.Sc. Occupational Therapy
Observers have attributed this achievement to the visionary leadership of Professor John Emaimo, under whose stewardship the university has recorded remarkable progress within a short period. The latest approval adds to the growing list of accomplishments that continue to position FUAHSE as a fast-rising centre of excellence in allied health sciences, engineering, and emerging technologies.
The NUC, however, enjoined the university to sustain the momentum by ensuring the continuous provision of adequate human and material resources to support the effective development, sustainability, and long-term growth of the newly approved programmes.
The development is expected to significantly strengthen FUAHSE’s academic portfolio and enhance its capacity to produce skilled professionals capable of meeting national and global workforce demands in health sciences, engineering, and technology-driven sectors.
