Nnamdi Kanu Not Appearing In Court Tuesday; We Are Waiting For Judgment – Lawyer, Ejiofor

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has announced that his client will not appear in court on Tuesday for his appeal against the Nigerian government.

Ejiofor, who made this known in a statement on Monday in Owerri, Imo State, dismissed reports that Kanu was scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, saying that the rumour of Kanu’s court case on Tuesday was the handiwork of mischief makers as the proceedings on the case was brought forward to September 13.

According to him, it became imperative to dismiss the rumour because some market leaders in Onitsha, Anambra State had issued an order to shop owners to prepare for sit-at-home in solidarity with Kanu, adding that IPOB is only waiting for the ruling of the court.

Ejiofor in a statement, however, said, “Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has no court case tomorrow, and as such, shall not be appearing in court tomorrow. ONYENDU’s Appeal No CA/ABJ/CR/ 625/2022 between Nnamdi Kanu vs the Federal Republic of Nigeria originally scheduled to be heard tomorrow the 11th Day of October 2022, was brought forward and accordingly heard on the 13th September 2022, now awaiting judgement. As such tomorrow’s earlier date has been vacated.

“Our people should stop paying undeserved attention to rumours, and mischief makers. I was compelled to issue this clarification because it has just been brought to my attention that some market leaders in Onitsha have started directing the closure of Markets for tomorrow being the 11th Day of October 2022.

The members of the public should be adequately informed any day our indefatigable client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be appearing in court. Thank you all, and remain blessed Ezigbo Umuchineke.”
