Major General Nze honored as Papal Knight of St. Gregory of the Vatican City.

Major General Edward Nze (Rtd) has been honored as a Papal Knight of St. Gregory of the Vatican City.

The investiture ceremony, which took place at St. Michael Catholic Cathedral Church in the Awgu local government area, was to mark the 18th anniversary of the diocese.

The award is an honor given to those who have distinguished themselves in service to God and human capital development.

Major General Nze served as the Officer Commanding B Squadron of 55 Signal Command, Commander 58 Signal Command, Deputy Director Electronic Warfare at Defense Headquarters (DHQ), Commander 59 Div Signal at 81 Division NA, and Deputy Commandant NA Peacekeeping Centre.

Major General Nze, through the “General Edward Nze Help Foundation and African Leadership Endeavour,” has empowered many by securing admission to the NDA, skill acquisition programs, employment in ministries, and other government agencies at the federal and state levels.

In 1992, he founded the Taskforce on Anike Roads and Development Projects aimed at achieving the overall development of the Anike Clan and was conferred with the chieftaincy title of IKEMBA 1 of Anike, Awgu LGA of Enugu State.

His outstanding academic track record highlights his exceptional intellectual prowess, with an exceptional skillset that combines military leadership with high business acumen.

He is the Chief Executive Officer of Garizen Security Company Limited, Garizen Farms Oil & Gas Limited, Zenbar & Suites Limited, Major General Edward Nze Help Foundation, and African Leadership Endeavour.

He is a knight of Saint Mulumber (KSM), and his undying love for God pushed him to mobilize for the construction of St. Paul Catholic Church, Ezere, and the Catholic Diocese of Awgu.

Elaborating on the essence of Knight one of  the Knights, Mrs. Phina  Ani, said that knights are Soldiers of Christ who defend the church and the Christian faith.

Similarly, Sir. Steven Nweke, said that there is nothing secret about knights as wrongly perceived by people, noting that it is an honour to those who are committed to the service of God and mankind.

In his remark, Major General Edward Nze said that, Papal Knight was instituted in 1831 to encourage people in the evangelical vanguard, noting that the award calls for a doubling of efforts, more work, more prayers, and help to the needy.

Our correspondent reports that Rev. Fr. Okeke Anthony Chigbogu from Awgu, Rev. Fr. Egwu Raphael Amobi from Oji River, and Rev. Fr. Orji Cyprian Nnadozie from Ihite, Imo State, were elevated to Monsignori.

Many others also received awards under the categories of Papal Knight of St. Sylvester, and St. Gregory,  Benemerenti Medal,  and Medal PRO Ecclesia Et Pontifice.
