Lai Mohammed Mourns ‘Gruesome’ Attack on Kwara State Church Worshippers

 

 

 

Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attack on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

 

The attack, which claimed several lives and left many injured, has thrown the community into mourning.

 

In a statement on Thursday, Mohammed described the incident as a “gruesome and senseless assault” on innocent citizens and a painful blow to the entire nation.

 

“I am devastated by this loss of life,” he said.

 

“My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this immeasurable tragedy.”

 

He also wished the injured a speedy recovery and prayed for strength and healing for the families struggling with the aftermath of the violence.

 

Mohammed commended the swift response of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that both leaders acted promptly by addressing the humanitarian needs of the victims and deploying security forces to track down the perpetrators.

 

“Their timely intervention underscores the commitment of the state and federal governments to safeguard lives and ensure justice is served,” he added.

 

He urged Nigerians to remain united and vigilant as the community grapples with the tragedy.

 

Recall that Alhaji Lai Mohammed served as Minister of Information and Culture from 2015 to 2023.
