Abuja — Mansur Musa, a member of the House of Representatives, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). His defection was announced on Tuesday during plenary after Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read a letter submitted by the lawmaker.
Musa, who represents the Gwandu/Aleiro/Jega Federal Constituency of Kebbi State, said his decision was driven by what he described as deep-seated internal conflicts within the PDP. According to him, prolonged disagreements and unresolved disputes within the party made it difficult to effectively discharge his duties and provide quality representation.
In his letter, Musa stated that the crisis in the PDP had become unacceptable and incompatible with the expectations of his constituents, prompting him to seek a more stable political platform.
APC leaders from Kebbi State were present in the chamber to witness the announcement, signaling the party’s readiness to welcome him into its fold.
With this development, the APC has further strengthened its presence in the National Assembly, while the PDP continues to grapple with a series of recent defections.
