The deputy minority leader house of representative and member representing Awgu, Aninri and Oji-River federal constituency has requested the amendment on the motion to set a task force on national security.
Addressing the House of Representatives during a plenary, he emphasized on the need to resurrect the failed existing institutions and to also get the president to do his job by holding the institutions to be accountable.
This is coming after a fellow lawmaker; Hon. Salami had moved a motion to set a force on enforcing national security.
“I can understand for a man from North West and from Sokoto as well as other representatives and the absolute need for him to bring this motion on the need to set a tax force on national security. It’s very clear that the existing institutions have failed. If he is not disappointed he wouldn’t have brought it.
“But we cannot be talking about lack of synergy and we are still creating institutions that will further enhance the lack of synergy. I believe that there are structures and institutions that have been created; it is for us to ask them to do their job. If we have to cut the criminal phone network, the simple thing to do is to get to the minister of communications.
Calling on president Muhhamadu Buhari, he said “There is usually a theater commander for any operation and military can set it up with ease. My amendment is that all the prayers should be deleted and that the house calls on Mr. President as commander in chief to do his job and save Nigerians from this malady. He should take every measure to save Nigerians from the present security situation”.
