Husband TAKES WIFE TO COURT OVER disobedience, waywardness

A man, Taiwo Ajadi, on Monday filed a divorce against his wife, Mariam, at the Area Court, Ilorin, over alleged disobedience and wayward attitude.

The husband also applied for the custody of their three children: girl, 11; boy, 8; and girl, 4.

The counsel for the respondent, Mr Maruf Ibrahim, told the court that his client, Mariam, agreed to the divorce but not on the basis of the allegations levelled against her.

Ibrahim told the court that his client was not in any way disobedient to her husband or wayward in any way or manner.

He, however, said the wife also wanted custody of their three children.

The counsel described the children as minors and the husband should be responsible for their school fees and maintenance.

The Presiding Judge, AbdulQadir Ibrahim, said the applicant should produce evidence and witnesses on reasons why he should have custody of the children.

He adjourned the case until March 20 for hearing.
