The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uche Okolo, has applauded Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for keeping faith with Ndi Enugu by delivering on his promise of world-class education through the groundbreaking Smart Green Schools initiative and the accompanying school lunch programme.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, Hon. Okolo described the formal commencement of the Smart Green Schools across the state as “a historic milestone and a covenant fulfilled,” adding that it is proof that Governor Mbah’s vision of Tomorrow is Here is not mere rhetoric but a living reality for the children of Enugu State.

According to him, the Smart Green Schools—equipped with ICT centres, robotics and AI labs, e-libraries, smart farms, renewable energy, and medical facilities—represent more than classrooms; they embody “a new future for Enugu’s children, where innovation meets opportunity, and every child is given the tools to compete in the global economy.”

He further hailed the free school meals initiative, describing it as a practical step in tackling hunger, boosting enrolment, and enhancing learning outcomes.

“By providing every child with free uniforms, books, digital tablets, and now nutritious meals, Governor Mbah has not only raised the standard of education but has also rekindled the hope of Ndi Enugu. This is leadership with vision, compassion, and impact,” Okolo stated.

While acknowledging that the transition comes with challenges, the Awgu LGA boss emphasized that the governor’s courage and resolve to overcome them demonstrate true statesmanship.

He urged Ndi Awgu and Ndi Enugu at large to rally around the government, protect the Smart Green Schools, and support teachers as custodians of the future.

“With the Smart Green Schools, Enugu is not waiting for tomorrow; Enugu is already shaping it. Governor Mbah has written his name boldly in the book of history, and Ndi Enugu are the ultimate beneficiaries,” Hon. Okolo concluded.
