Goodluck Jonathan not yet a member of APC – Bayelsa APC chairman speaks

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa state, Dennis Otitio, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan is officially not yet a member of the party in the state.

Reports were rife on Thursday, May 12, that the former President had picked up the party membership card from his ward in Otuoke, Bayelsa state.

In an interview with Arise TV, Otitio said the party would be glad to welcome Jonathan to its fold but as it stands now, there is no record of him being a member of the party in the state.

”We have a constitution and article 9 of the APC constitution clearly states that anybody who wants to join the party must apply to register at his ward and if the ward refuses to register the person, the person will now appeal to the Local government. When the local government refuses to register the person, the person will now appeal to the state level. Where the state level refuses his admission, the person will escalate it to the zonal level and if the zonal level refuses to register the person, they will now escalate it to the national executive committee.

As at now that I am speaking, I have not received any confirmation that Goodluck Jonathan wants to reguster with the party.

The second condition in article 9 is that the person must not be a member of another political part”he said

Meanwhile, the Fulani group which obtained the N100 million APC Presidential nomination form for Jonathan says they will be submitting the form on his behalf today, May 13.

Jonathan who had earlier distanced himself from the Fulani group is at the moment in Senegal monitoring an electoral process.
