Ex-Lawmaker Jude Idimogu: ‘No Vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027’

Sir Jude Idimogu, a two-term former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has declared that there will be “no vacancy” in Aso Rock come 2027.

Idimogu, who represented Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II from 2015 to 2023, made the statement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos. He was reacting to the recent formation of an opposition coalition, which aims to defeat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

As the deputy leader of the Igbo socio-cultural group, Ndigbo Lagos, and a member of the APC, Idimogu downplayed the coalition’s prospects. He insisted that no alliance between opposition figures could pose a significant threat to Tinubu’s re-election.

Idimogu dismissed the opposition coalition as a futile effort, emphasizing that the APC had strong leadership and robust grassroots support, which would ensure their victory in 2027. He also maintained that the president deserved a second term due to the sustainable development initiatives he was implementing.

“The power rotation between the North and South means it is the South’s turn to complete their eight years in office. There will be no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027, and I urge all Northerners in the party to support the president to complete his term,” he stated.

Idimogu expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, highlighting positive results, such as improved power supply, a gradual appreciation of the naira, and a decrease in food prices due to supportive agricultural policies.

“I don’t see any opposition candidate coming forward with policies better than what this administration is doing,” he added. “In two years, I will be one of the strongest advocates for Tinubu’s re-election.”

He also urged the opposition coalition to unite with the president for the good of the country.
