Ex-Flying Eagles Star Nwobodo Signs Contract Extension with FC Cincinnati

Former Flying Eagles midfielder, Obinna Emmanuel Nwobodo, has signed a contract extension with Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Cincinnati, committing his future to the club until 2027, with an option to extend for an additional year.

According to Soccernet.ng, the 28-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who joined the Orange and Blue from Turkish Süper Lig side Göztepe in 2022, has been a key figure in Pat Noonan’s squad since his arrival.

Nwobodo’s previous deal was set to expire this summer, but the new agreement ensures he will continue his career at TQL Stadium for at least the next two seasons.

In an official statement, FC Cincinnati expressed their satisfaction with the midfielder’s contributions over the years.

“Since arriving three years ago, Obi has been a fundamental part of our success,” the club stated. “His consistency, work ethic, and leadership on and off the pitch have made him invaluable to our team.”

Nwobodo, known for his tireless energy and defensive prowess in midfield, played a crucial role in Cincinnati’s rise in the MLS standings and their competitive performances in recent seasons.
