Enugu State has once again demonstrated its rising influence in Nigeria’s digital landscape as it took centre stage at the Interswitch Techconnect 5.0 conference, held at the Carlton Swiss Grand Hotel, Enugu.

The event, themed “Scaling Digital Payments: Tackling Infrastructure, Financial Proficiency, and Fraud for Inclusive Growth,” brought together major players in the financial technology sector, including innovators, policy strategists, and digital economy experts, to explore pathways for strengthening Nigeria’s payment ecosystem.

Representing the Enugu State Government, Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy and MSMEs / Director-General of the Enugu SME Center, Mr. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to driving an inclusive, technology-enabled economy.

He highlighted the transformational vision of the Governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, stressing that the Mbah-led administration has embarked on a strategic mission to position Enugu as Nigeria’s foremost innovation hub. This vision, he explained, is anchored on deliberate investments in broadband expansion, digital payment systems, and the empowerment of MSMEs and nano-businesses through structured financial literacy and capacity-building programmes.

Chilo-Offiah further noted that the state’s ongoing digital reforms are strengthened by forward-looking frameworks such as the Enugu Startup Bill and the State MSME Database—policies designed to give startups and small businesses the foundation to thrive within a globally competitive economy.

He reiterated that under Dr. Mbah’s leadership, Enugu is building a solid foundation for a digital-first economy where technology, innovation, and trust converge to enable growth, inclusion, and long-term sustainability.
