ENUGU Couple Celebrates their Retirement in a Grand Style

It was a collaborative retirement celebration of Mr. Jonas Okoli and Mrs. Rose Ifeyinwa Okoli on the 12th Nov. 2022.
The Event started with 11am Holy Mass at their compound, Amorji Obeagu in Awgu L.G.A Enugu State.

The couple who started as teachers and retired as school principals have nutured and thought alot of Elite
like Professors, Politicians, Artisans, Doctors, Lawyers and lots more including the personalities such as
Prof. E.A Chukwude, Engr. Chinedu Ani and the C.E.O UgamaTV, Tochukwu Chukwu Etc.
Their colleagues, students, friends and well wisher were all there to grace the occasion.

The celebrant Mrs. Rose Okoli told UgamaTV that she is filled with joy as a retiree and enjoyed her days in services because she did her job whole heartedly and never shy away from her duties.
She added that she had retired at due time to leave the system for her children and others. She is proud to have raised her children as graduates while at active service and has plans to go back as a full time farmer.

She encouraged those who are still active in the civil service to work hard and never be afraid of retirement but feel fulfilled because it’s a blessing in disguise.

She enumerated some challenges in the educational sector as the educational sector is going down day by day and urge’s the government to put things in place while the teachers seats up with their duties.

Mr. Jonas Okoli the celebrant expressed his joy seeing the numerous dignitaries he had thought who are elites of the society today and that makes him a proud father and teacher.

He futher explained that during his early day when he took the teaching job he knew it would be economical for him to train his children as well.
He futher adviced teacher to be of good and moral influence to their students and not just class teachers.

He encourages teachers to continue doing their best despite the poor salary scale of teachers and never give up. He noted that teachers are at advantage if they plan their lives well and minimize complains.
He went on to rule out his plan as a retiree telling UgamaTV that he had already established a workshop and ready to accept consultancy jobs. He said he has designed his programs and will now work at his leisure time.
Finally, He encourages people who are still in the civil service as teachers to know when they are retiring and plan ahead according to their income.

The celebrant’s son and daughter Obi Chinedu Okoli and Lilian Okoli respectively, told UgamaTV on a chat that their parents are their role models, great disciplinarian and adorable. They expressed their gratitude to God for keeping them alive, they also appreciate them for training them morally, educationally and spiritually.

The Labour party candidate for Enugu State house of assembly Awgu South constituency, Hon. Nnaemeka Akachukwu was happy to identify with the celebrant as he marks his retirement and wished him longlife and pray he will not labour in vain but reap the fruit of his labour.

He told UgamaTV that he will make and enact law effectively for a better representaion, he urged the people of Awgu to give him their votes in the coming 2023 election.

The professor of physics and Arstro in University of Nigeria Augustine Chukwude on a chat with UgamaTV recognized the celebrants like a role model and parents as they were both from same village.
He said that his relationship with the couple was so motivating and strong to the extent that they named their son after him.
He futher encouraged that the celebrant should accept their fate with joy because they are retired and not tired.
He wished them more strength and success.

The Chairman Obeagu Teachers Association, also a retired principal told UgamaTV that he has know his colleagues as hard working couple and pillars holding the Obeagu teachers association and indeed role models worth of emulation.
Futher speaking, he advice retirees to be happy as the teachers association Motto is “to rest is sweet after labour” they should engage in other activities after retirement and never rely on pension and gratuity! and live a happy life.

Mr. Charles Ude the Nephew to the celebrant and also wedding sponsor testified to the couple’s love, transparency and kindness. He also described the couple as a great counselor and role models.

The students of Corpus Christy College Achi and CSS Obeagu in their sparkling uniform graced the event with drama presentation, debate and cultural dance.

UgamaTV had chat with few of the students and they testified that the celebrants are kind, disciplinarian, role model and great teacher.
