Enugu Community mourns Their Prime Minister- Onowu 1 of Obeagu

It was a moment of grief yet a celebration of an icon as the entire people of Obeagu Town in Awgu L.G.A of Enugu State, mourns their traditional prime minister Chief Christopher Chinwendu Ukekwe, the Onowu 1 of Obeagu kingdom.

The event which took place at the community square on Saturday 5th of November 2022 was well attended by dignitaries, illustrious sons and daughters of Obeagu community, guests and neighboring communities. It was colourful with the presence of different dance groups, masquerades and dummers.

The late Onowu who aged 80 years was married to Mrs Victoria Ukekwe and blessed with six children which includes sons and daughters and numerous grand children.

Speaking with UGAMATV his son Obinze Ukekwe Onowu jr describe his father as a good and highly respected man.
He also added that growing up as a young boy he has known his father for his honesty and the people of Obeagu are witness to that.

The beautiful daughters of the late Onowu,
Juliet Iloabuchi and Vivian Ujunwa also spoke with Ugamatv expressing their joy with the entire Obeagu community as they pay homage to their late father.

The former chairman Ohaneze Ndigbo in Agwu L.G.A, Ogbuefi Calistus Ojiogbu told Ugamatv on an interview that C.C Ukekwe was a noble man who served relentlessly from the time he was a member of the kings cabinet till he became the Onowu.
Speaking futher he advised the younger generation especially Obeagu people to always listen to the advice of elders.

Amb. Hon. J.C Ikemefuna the Agunecheibe onyiaoha of Obeagu kingdom said that the Onowu was a very important personality and a key holder of. Obeagu and he has come to pay him his last respect.
He appreciated the entire people of Obeagu communities for their presence and wished the late Onowu a perfect rest.

The PDP house of assembly candidate for Awgu South constituency, Hon. Tony Chukwudi Nwankwo told Ugamatv, that the Onowu lived a life of legacy.
He also assured of his preparation on the forth coming election and promise a quality representaion for the people of Awgu.

Hon. Mrs Rose Ude, the councilor representing Obeagu ward also noted that the late Onowu was a peacemaker who always carry everyone along.

Some members of the community also testified the honesty diligence and peaceful nature of the Onowu.

Dignitaries who were present at the event, sympathize with the family and the people of Obeagu community as a whole. It was indeed a great lost of an icon.
