The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), popularly known as cooking gas, has continued to decline in parts of Nigeria over the past three weeks, offering relief to households.

A market survey by Daily Post showed that the price of cooking gas has fallen to as low as ₦1,300 per kilogram from about ₦1,450, depending on the location in Abuja and its surrounding areas.

Major outlets including Ranoil, Shafa, and AP Ardova filling stations now sell LPG at between ₦1,300 and ₦1,400 per kilogram, compared to previous prices of between ₦1,450 and ₦1,500 per kilogram.

At the depot level, LPG is currently sold for between ₦997 and ₦1,030 per kilogram, down from as high as ₦1,100 per kilogram.

Retailers in areas such as Dawaki, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, and Lugbe have also reduced prices, with cooking gas now selling for around ₦1,500 per kilogram, compared to about ₦1,700 previously.

The price decline comes amid a sharp increase in LPG imports into Nigeria. According to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), LPG imports rose by 1,400 percent to 1.5 kilotonnes per day in June 2026.
