Veteran Nollywood star Chioma Chukwuka was moved to tears on Saturday after clinching the Best Lead Actress award at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for her compelling performance in the acclaimed film Seven Doors.
Though absent from the ceremony, the emotional moment was shared with fans through a heartfelt video posted on Instagram, where the actress—visibly overwhelmed—expressed deep gratitude and joy.
“Thank you, Jesus!!! Words really fail me! AMVCA Best Actress 2025,” she wrote alongside the clip.
The award was received on her behalf by fellow actor Femi Adebayo, who celebrated the achievement amid thunderous applause.
Chukwuka’s victory was especially notable in a highly competitive category that featured powerful performances from top actresses, including:
Gbubemi Ejeye (Farmer’s Bride)
Uzoamaka Onuoha (Agemo)
Uche Montana (Thin Line)
Uzoamaka Aniunoh (Phoenix Fury)
Hilda Dokubo (Wives on Strike 3)
Bimbo Ademoye (Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre)
Her win underscores not only her talent but her enduring relevance and impact in Nollywood’s evolving landscape.
