Biafran Group, MASSOB Condemns Violent Attacks On Enugu Communities By Hoodlums Parading As Agitators 

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the criminal attacks on some communities in Enugu State by hoodlums parading themselves as Biafra agitators.

Some communities such as Oduma in Aninri Council Area of Enugu State as well as Nkerefi, Nomeh and Mbulubu in Nkanu East Local Government have been under siege by criminal elements who now exploit the insecurity in the state to terrorise local residents in the name of Biafran agitation.

Reacting to the development, MASSOB in a statement issued on Saturday signed by its Enugu State Coordinator, Daniel Onyebuchi, decried the development.

MASSOB unequivocally stated that those attacking indigenous Biafra communities in the guise of fighting for Biafra actualisation are actually criminals adding that Biafra agitators cannot be involved in kidnapping, stealing, raping and making life unbearable for her people.

According to the statement, “the information from Biafra Intelligence Agency (BIA), MASSOB secret security shows that these gangsters operate in a camp within the border line between Nkerefi and Oduma forests popularly known as Ngene Awa by Oduma people but called Okobo by Nkerefi people.

They have subjected the people of the above mention communities into subjective slavery. The indeginous people can’t go to their farms during this harvesting season because of fear of been kidnapped, raped or killed by these criminals.”

MASSOB described as unfortunate that young Igbo youths with brighter future had turned themselves to criminal activities by making kidnapping a lucrative business.

It however, blamed the state governments in the Southeast zone for their failure to create jobs opportunities and solid empowerments for the youths, adding that some cultists which government used during previous elections had found comfort in Biafran agitation to indulge in various criminal enterprise.

MASSOB said that recently they kidnapped about five persons within the affected communities.

“Those kidnapped include Mr. Ekpa Nwonu working with a construction company, Mr Amobi, a comunity leader in Oduma and one Chidimma, a trader in the community; huge amount of money was paid for their release but Chidimma is still in their custody because she couldn’t afford to pay the amount they demanded from the family.”

The foremost pro-Biafra group lamented that members of neighborhood watch security outfit in the area have severally been attacked and disarmed by same hoodlums going by unknown gunmen.

Advising the perpetrators to have a rethink and consider implications of their actions, MASSOB warned them to leave the forest now and stop every criminal activity in the name of Biafran agitation and be useful with their lives.
