Awgu Council Chairman, Hon. Okolo, Hails Governor Mbah’s Move to APC — Says Political Realignment Heralds Renewed Hope for the South East

The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Okolo, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on his historic decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a courageous and visionary move that will usher in unprecedented growth and unity across Enugu State and the South East region.

Hon. Okolo, in a statement issued through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, expressed the total support and solidarity of the people of Awgu for Governor Mbah’s realignment, affirming that “Awgu stands firmly with Governor Mbah — together in APC for a greater and prosperous Enugu State and South East at large.”

He noted that Governor Mbah’s alignment with the APC has bridged the long-standing gap between the South East and the Federal Government, describing the development as a bold step that ends years of political sidelining and positions the region for accelerated federal attention, partnerships, and infrastructural renewal.

“This move by our dear Governor is a bridge of progress and inclusion for the South East. It will open new doors of development, empower our people, and ensure that Enugu State continues to rise as the pride of the region,” Hon. Okolo stated.

The Awgu Council Chairman also seized the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to complementing the Governor’s development vision at the grassroots level. He highlighted that just last week, his administration commissioned and inspected over 55 completed and ongoing projects across Awgu communities, including roads, water schemes, Electricity , schools, solar Street lights and many others.

He maintained that Governor Mbah’s transformational leadership has inspired local government chairmen across the state to deepen grassroots governance and deliver tangible results to their people.

“Governor Mbah’s vision for Enugu is reshaping governance and inspiring us all. We in Awgu are proud to align fully with this bold step into a new era of progress under the APC,” Okolo affirmed.

Hon. Okolo concluded by calling on all Awgu stakeholders, community leaders, and residents to remain united and supportive of the Governor’s new political direction, assuring that the best days for Enugu and the South East are now within reach
