The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Awgu Local Government Area Chapter in Enugu State, has reaffirmed its commitment to unity, grassroots expansion, and internal democracy following a high-level Expanded Executive Committee and Stakeholders Meeting held on February 27, 2026.
The meeting, convened strictly by invitation at Patbenson Hotels, drew ward executives, party officials, elders, women and youth leaders, alongside key stakeholders from across the 11 political wards of Awgu Local Government Area.
Strengthening the Party Structure
A major highlight of the gathering was the formal presentation of letter of recognition to Ward Chairmen and Secretaries across the 11 wards, a move designed to reinforce administrative coordination and grassroots leadership.
The meeting also reviewed previous ward resolutions and emphasized reconciliation, urging members to set aside past differences in the interest of collective progress. Leaders unanimously agreed to standardize a 10-man polling unit structure in each political ward to enhance operational efficiency ahead of the forthcoming local government and state elections.
Mobilization Drive and Membership Revalidation
In what observers describe as a strategic repositioning effort, the party directed ward leaders to immediately commence a comprehensive house-to-house mobilization campaign. The initiative is aimed at registering new members, validating existing memberships, and sensitizing voters across the local government.
Stakeholders reiterated that the ADC remains an inclusive platform, encouraging all eligible members with the aspiration to contest elective offices to step forward. The meeting emphasized that no position within the party is reserved for any individual or group, reinforcing the party’s commitment to internal democracy and equal opportunity.
Vote of Confidence on Comr. Stella Chukwuma
The climax of the meeting was the unanimous vote of confidence passed on Comrade Stella Chukwuma, ADC Chairman, Enugu State, as well as the Awgu Local Government Chairman and Secretary.
Stakeholders urged party faithful across Awgu and the state to rally behind Comrade Chukwuma’s leadership in her ongoing efforts to unify and reposition the party for greater political impact. The endorsement, participants noted, reflects strong confidence in the direction and stability of the state leadership.
Leadership Recognition and Strategic Coordination
In his address, Hon. Engr. Chukwu Chinweze, ADC Chairman, Awgu LGA, commended Comrade AC Ude, Chairman of the Membership Awareness and Sensitization Committee, for his relentless coordination and strategic mobilization efforts.
Special recognition was also accorded to Dr. Ben Chukwu, Chairman of the Awgu LG ADC Stakeholders Forum; Dr. Godwin Udibe, Secretary of the Forum; and Sir SKC Ogbonna for their leadership roles and sustained contributions toward strengthening the party’s presence in Awgu.
