Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, has firmly denied reports linking him to a potential run for the Kano governorship or a senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
In a personally signed statement released to journalists on Sunday, Jibrin Kofa categorically stated that he has no intention of contesting for the Kano South Senatorial seat or the state’s governorship position.
“For the umpteenth time, I feel compelled to clarify that I am neither interested in running for the Kano South Senatorial seat nor the Kano governorship in 2027,” he stated.
The four-term federal lawmaker acknowledged that his name frequently surfaces in political discussions surrounding the state’s future leadership, but said he views it as a sign of respect and recognition of his service.
“It’s not surprising that my name is mentioned in such contexts. Over the years, I’ve learned to see it as a compliment—an indication that my modest contributions to politics and public service are appreciated. I remain committed to serving my constituents and my country,” he added.
Jibrin Kofa, who currently chairs the House Committee on Housing and Habitat, emphasized his broad experience, having previously led several key committees in the National Assembly, including Finance, Appropriations, Transportation, and Foreign Affairs.
Highlighting his leadership ethos, he said, “Those who know me understand that in any role—be it political, academic, or business—I am focused on results. That has always been my guiding principle.”
He also noted his current role as Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), adding that he remains “modestly ambitious” and grateful for the progress he has made in both his political and professional life.
“I look forward to the future with optimism,” he concluded.
Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, PhD, who holds the traditional title of Jarman Bebeji, is widely regarded as an influential figure in Kano politics. His statement comes amid growing speculation about contenders in the state’s 2027 political race.
